Dalat International School is a K-12 American Christian International day and boarding school in Penang, accredited by WASC andACSI. Founded in 1929 in its original location in Vietnam, Dalat International School is now situated in a prime beach front property in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. Dalat is an Associate Member of The Child Safety and Protection Network and adheres to personal protection policies which are based on international law and standards from the United Nations and World Health Organization. Dalat is the first international school in Asia to use PowerSchool: a web-based student information system with a centralized database. This enables real-time information (e.g. grades, assignments, homework, attendance etc.) about a student to be readily accessible to parents, to the students, school and office as soon as they are recorded.

Tenby International School is located in Tanjung Bungah, Penang and is based on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and Cambridge-International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum. Originally started as Sekolah Sri Inai in the early 1980s, Tenby International School now shares the same campus with the Malaysian private school, Sekolah Sri Tenby which uses the Malaysian Ministry of Education’s local curriculum. Unlike some of the international schools in Penang, Tenby is a day facility only, so students who attend the school must live with a parent or legal guardian.

Established in 2011, POWIIS’s campus is located at Balik Pulau which is at the Southwest of Penang island and is based on a UK curriculum which prepares students for IGCSE and A level examinations. It also offers a UK boarding environment where students could either opt for full, weekly or even flexi-boarding. The school provides transportation as well, with over 10 pick-up points covering areas from all over the island as well as the mainland. Unlike other international schools in Penang which are mostly located in the popular north region of Penang island, POWIIS is the only international school located at Balik Pulau, the southwest region; an area considered rather rural and relatively undeveloped for now. On the contrary, students can benefit from this quieter environment with less noise and distractions so that they can be more effective in their studies and extra curricular activities. POWIIS offers scholarships to recognise students’ academic excellence as well as other areas of achievement e.g. sports, art and music.

Following the British Cambridge curriculum, Straits International School was newly established in Penang in 2012. In 2016, they moved to a new campus situated in Bayan Lepas, the south part of Penang island, close to the Penang International Airport. Mandarin language is compulsory for all students here. The school accepts students all year round as there is no set academic intakes. SIS places importance in the relationship between home and school; parents are encouraged and given the platform to be involved in their children’s education and life in the school through the Parents Association and Parent Support Group. Parents of new students are given the opportunity by the school to connect with other parents.

Located in Batu Ferringhi, The International School of Penang (Uplands) offers a British curriculum. As one of the oldest international schools in Malaysia, The International School of Penang (Uplands) was established in 1955 in Penang Hill before moving to Pulau Tikus in 1977, and then now to its new campus in Batu Ferringhi in 2006. The school offers a boarding program where students are placed in family style accommodation in secure housing areas near to the school.

With five other campuses in Malaysia, Fairview International School in Penang is located at Bukit Jambul, just a couple of minutes drive away from the Penang International Airport. It is based on the UK National curriculum and part of the International Baccalaureate World Schools group. The Penang campus offers Primary Year Program (ages 3-12) and Middle Year Program (ages 11-16).

The syllabus is based on the UK National curriculum and offers pre-school, primary and secondary programs; preparing students for the Cambridge IGCSE.
