3rd Weekend of Each Month: Majestic Revival |Screening is to pay tribute to the rich cinematic heritage of Majestic as a cinema by showing heritage films of the past and showcasing cinematic talent of the present.
Jan 14: Pongal Festival | A Hindu ‘thanksgiving’ festival traditionally dedicated to the Sun God Surya to thank the solar deity for a bountiful harvest
Jan 24- Feb 11: Kek Lok Si Display of Light | Annual lighting display which showcases more than 10,000 lights.
Jan 28-29: Chinese New Year Celebration | First day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Every year, the Penang Chief Minister will organize a Chinese New Year Open House on the first day at 10am at sPICE and invites the public to join in the celebration.
Feb 4-5: Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta @ Padang Polo |Display of hot air balloons, ‘night glow’ shows, free flying balloons and cold inflation.
Feb 9-11: Thaipusam @ Lebuh Penang and Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani temple (Waterfall Hilltop temple), Jalan Kebun Bunga| Celebrated during the full moon of the 10th month in the Hindu calendar. There will be a tradition of breaking of coconuts, kavadis and a pilgrimage procession.
Feb 11: Chap Goh Mei @ Penang Esplanade| Celebrated on the 15th night of the Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day. On that night young ladies of marrying age will throw oranges into the sea, wishing for a good soul mate.
Feb 24-26: Penang International HALAL Expo & Conference 2016 (World Curry Festival) @ SPICE Arena | Event to promote diverse curry and spices from all the world, World Street Food, Culinary Class for food and curry lovers.
Mar 09-12: St. Patrick’s Festival @ E&O Hotel & Straits Quay |Organised by the Penang Irish Association, the Penang St. Patrick’s Festival celebrates the very best of Irish culture and traditions. The four-day festival will showcase a musical ‘The Clash of Kings at Clontarf’, parade, exhibition, a live concert and performances from Ireland.
Mar 11: Penang Yosakai Parade @ Esplanade |Back for its 4th time, this event will be a venue for culture, dance and charity. *More details to come.

Mar 26: Francis Light Cemetery Tour @ Protestant Cemetery, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah | The Protestant Cemetery, a resting place of Penang’s European pioneers, is a site of great significance within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town.
Mar 26: Hop-on the island, Hop-off the mainland @ Meeting Point:In front of Beach Street Police Station | Crossing the Penang Bridge onan open-top double-decker bus. Apr 13: Thai Water Festival @ Penang Burmese Temple & The Reclining Buddha Temple |A traditional Thai Festival that is celebrated in Penang by devotees to wash away bad luck through liberally splashing water on each other.
Apr 14: Vaisakhi Celerbation @ Penang Time Squares | The Sikh feast marks the harvest festival and the religious Khalsa Janam Divas. It is usually celebrated with singing and danceing in a colourful carnival like atmosphere.
May 10: Wesak Day @ Malaysian Buddhist Association | Observed by devotees to celebrate Buddha’s birthday, enlightenment and achievement of Nirvana. There will be procession of floats with colourful flowers and bright lights accompanied by children singing and monks chanting prayers.
May 17: WTM Connect Asia @ Penang | A new event bringing together suppliers of South East Asia and international travel product to meet with outbound Chinese, South East Asian and international Hosted Buyers.
